FOR ALUMNAE

“Slowly, six by six by six, this land and the staff send radically altered beings out
into the world to transmit their joy to others, so brimming over are they.”
~ Aleida Rodríguez (Oak ’92, Owl ’01)

You are Hedgebrook’s greatest ambassador. As an alumna, you’ve experienced the gift of time here and are a “radically altered being” because of it. You know firsthand the value of Hedgebrook as a sanctuary and a gathering place.

Now, more than ever before, Hedgebrook is committed to building a network among our alumnae. We’re finding ways to connect you with each other, and audiences, to broaden the reach of your voice.  Our Alumnae programs extend the community that begins at the farmhouse kitchen table out into the world.

Current alumnae programs:
~ Women Authoring Change Reading Series hosts alumnae readings throughout the year.
~ Hedgebrook Writer’s Series publishes work by Hedgebrook poets and nonfiction writers in collaboration with independent Seattle publisher, Whit Press.
~ Annual Hedgebrook staff/alumnae gatherings throughout the United States.
~ E-mail announcements of your upcoming reading/performance events to Hedgebrook alumnae in the area.

Alumnae program plans in progress:
~ Short return residencies at Hedgebrook.
~ Seminars, master classes held around the country to be taught by and for alumnae.
~ Publishing workshops to help connect writers to agents, editors and publishers.
~ Internet forum for alumnae to post/look for jobs, couch surfing, events, books to read, and other news.
~ An alumnae-curated blog.
