Legacy Giving

“My residency at Hedgebrook was the first time I felt truly valued as a writer. I have taken myself more seriously since then. Hedgebrook remains close to my heart, and it makes me happy to know my gift will benefit other women writers.” ~ Sharon Carter, Alumna

You can take some simple steps to ensure that those things you value most in life will continue to be supported long into the future. Planned giving, or after-life giving, is a powerful tool to help you leave a legacy that reflects your most prized passions. It’s easier than you might think and accessible to all income levels.

If women’s voices move you to make a difference, you can ensure they continue to be heard by:

  • Making Hedgebrook a beneficiary of your life insurance policy, IRA, 401(K) or 403(b).
  • Naming Hedgebrook as a beneficiary in your will. Here’s sample language for your will.
  • Naming Hedgebrook as the beneficiary of a charitable remainder trust.
  • Inviting us to work directly with you or your planning professionals to determine how your wishes can best benefit women writers of the future. You can reach our Development and Outreach office at 206-325-6773.
  • Reviewing our Gift Acceptance Policy as you contemplate cash-equivalent bequests.

If you’ve already included us in your estate plans, let us know and we’ll count you as a member of our Legacy Giving Circle and include you in special recognition events! Here’s a sample Letter of Intention.

Whatever the shape or scope your legacy giving may take, it’s a meaningful way to support Women Authoring Change.
