BIO: Elizabeth de Souza writes about the arts emerging from the African diaspora, with a special interest in visual art. She has an MFA in creative writing from George Mason University, and her work has appeared in print and online publications such as Callaloo, Southern Indiana Review, Surface Design Journal, and most recently Torch Literary Arts. Elizabeth was Hedgebrook’s 2020 Rona-Jaffe Fellow, and she has received awards, fellowships and grants from MacDowell, Twelve Literary Arts, and Creative Capital, among others. Her forthcoming book, “Sleeping in the Fire,” is about the plight of the Black artist in America. Elizabeth is a NYC transplant who now lives in the Pittsburgh area with her husband and two young children.
