BIO: Joshunda Sanders (she/her) is an author and speechwriter, currently at work on a novel forthcoming with Park Row Books. She is a proud Hedgebrook alum and ambassador, and a writing coach for a 2022 cohort of the Aspen Institute’s Healthy Communities Fellowship. She has written several books across genres, including the memoir, The Beautiful Darkness: A Handbook for Orphans, the textbook, How Racism & Sexism Killed Traditional Media: Why the Future of Journalism Depends on Women and People of Color and the children’s books I Can Write the World and A Place of Our Own. She has written, with pleasure, about books for most of her career as a journalist, most recently for Oprah Daily and O Magazine Quarterly, the Boston Globe and many other publications. She has taught writing across modalities for The School of the New York Times, Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing, Lehman College, The New School and University of Texas at Austin. Joshunda writes with joy as much and often as she can, understanding that tomorrow is never promised.
