Bio: Putsata Reang is an author and international journalist whose debut memoir, "Ma and Me" (FSG/MCD 2022) won the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association prize for Nonfiction, and was a finalist for a Dayton Literary Peace Prize and Lambda Literary prize. Her writings have appeared in a variety of national and international publications, including the New York Times, Politico, the Guardian, Ms., the Seattle Times and the San Jose Mercury News. Putsata has lived and worked in more than a dozen countries, including Cambodia, Afghanistan and Thailand. She is an alum of residencies at Hedgebrook, Kimmel Harding Nelson, and Mineral School, and is a fellow of the Jack Straw Writers Program. Putsata is the recipient of grants from the Alicia Patterson Journalism foundation and Washington State Artist Trust. She teaches memoir writing in Seattle-area public schools and is a frequent public speaker at schools, conferences, and public and private entities.
