From the Farmhouse Table: July 2025
What is a Writers Conference?
Hopefully by now you’ve seen the announcements about Hedgebrook’s Writers Conference with our stellar alumnae instructors, Kirstin Chen, Julia Phillips, and Mira Jacob. Now in our fourth year with this offering, I am more excited than ever about what is in store for the writers who will be joining us. Is it YOU?
The Five Ws of Hedgebrook’s Writers Conference
WHO: Intermediate and advanced writers (of any gender!) dedicated to their craft!
WHAT: A three-day intensive of workshops and lessons with our alumnae instructors!
WHEN: Friday through Sunday, September 19th - 21st, 2025, 9:30am to 3pm!
WHERE: In Seattle, at our partner Hugo House’s place!
WHY: We have held space for and witnessed the deep wisdom and insight our alumnae have about the creative process from the blank page to the final manuscript delivery, the professional writer’s life, and craft development. We build this thing with them each year so that all of YOU can access this brilliance too.
During this long weekend, Hedgebrook staff will facilitate an experience that begins with breakfast snacks, tea and coffee, and little touches of Radical Hospitality from the Farm each morning. One of our instructors will then lead their workshop, followed by the communal lunch we provide. We return to the work after lunch to dive deep into the writing life with the instructor’s Industry Lesson for the day, and break into small work groups for peer support and resource sharing. Every year our alumnae open our minds wide in new and unexpected ways, cultivate community bonds among the cohort, and craft these unique offerings with such radical generosity. This, the ripples of transformation our writers make, is the true magic of Hedgebrook!
If you or a writer you know needs a supercharge to their project and their creative practice, registration is open now. We can’t wait to see what grows this year!
Warmly,
Amber Flame, Hedgebrook Alum & Program Director
