Kristina Ciari

Interim Communications Director

Kristina is the founder of Occasionally Epic Communications and a Seattle-based strategic communications leader with deep experience helping mission-driven organizations find their voice, reach their people, and build the systems to sustain both.

Her work is rooted in a belief that the most powerful communications shift narratives. That conviction has shaped engagements across the nonprofit sector, with a particular focus on ethical storytelling and amplifying the voices of historically excluded communities. Kristina’s favorite work is leading content strategy and storytelling that translates complex programmatic work into narratives worthy of support. Her clients include Rainier Scholars, the Arboretum Foundation, Global Washington, Outdoor Alliance, and the Seattle Public Library Foundation. Kristina’s work has been published by Outside Magazine, Adventure Journal, Mountaineer magazine, and the Seattle Academy of Arts & Sciences.

A committed nonprofit board leader, Kristina has served as Board Chair of SheJumps and on the boards of the Northwest Avalanche Center, the Husky Marching Band Alumni Association. She is currently the Chair of Plankton Base, a citizen science nonprofit connecting polar expedition travelers to open-source ocean research.

When she is not working, you will find Kristina running, writing, playing outside with her kids, or skiing down a volcano in a tutu.
