Whether you’re gathering your writing friends for accountability to make that final push on first drafts or bringing your communications team together to prepare a marketing campaign, Hedgebrook is built to foster creativity.


What We Offer


Hedgebrook features six handcrafted cottages, a Gathering Space for groups to meet, a bathhouse with showers and a claw-foot tub, an outdoor fire space, and our Farmhouse kitchen where nourishing meals are prepared and enjoyed.

Explore our 48 acres including our beautiful garden, meadows, ponds, and woodland trails. You can also enjoy nearby birdwatching at Deer Lagoon and walks along Double Bluff Beach.

Gathering Space Capacity: Approximately 20 people depending on desired setup

Cottage Capacity: All six cottages are single occupancy only.

FAQs

  • Our retreat stays are ideal for groups of 6 booking stays ranging from a minimum of 2 nights to 6 nights.

  • With advanced notice, Hedgebrook can accommodate service dogs, but not emotional support animals. Under the ADA, a service animal is defined as a dog that has been trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. We follow the ADA’s requirements for service animals.

    if you have a service dog that you would bring to Hedgebrook for your stay, please contact retreats@hedgebrook.org to fill out our service animal form when you receive your confirmation notification.

  • While Hedgebrook is not currently ADA accessible, other options are available on an individualized basis, and the Hedgebrook staff will work with you to accommodate your specific needs, wherever possible.

    Our Farmhouse, where meals are shared, has an entrance with a ramp and a larger restroom that accommodates a wheelchair.

    With advance notice, we can set up a twin bed downstairs for anyone who cannot climb the ship ladder to the loft and bed.

    Hedgebrook has one motorized cart, available on request for the duration of your stay. Owl Cottage has a ramp at the front door entrance and a larger bathroom to accommodate a wheelchair.

  • All participants will be required to submit food and medical emergency forms, ensuring our chefs can accommodate any food needs your group may have.

  • Rustic Hospitality means a unique rural retreat experience for your group, where you will be greeted and hosted with the warm support of our team in an environment that has fostered the creativity of women-identified writers for more than 30 years. This retreat gives each individual a taste of “a cottage of one’s own” to dream, rest, and imagine in while fostering community over delicious dinners at our historic Farmhouse table.
